Summer Silhouettes

IMG_1414.JPGAs much as I love summer I do find it very hard to put together an interesting outfit. I feel that with the good weather you can definitely your put your look much more on show, but I do find that I easily get stuck in a rut,  reaching out always for the same stuff, a pair of shorts and a t-shirt of some sort, because with the heat I just feel there isn’t anything else that will not make you sweat and leave you feeling like you just came from a spinning class. Another big problem is you can’t layer and wearing such a few items of clothing makes it so difficult to make an outfit look interesting.

Last weekend when I was getting dressed for an afternoon of shopping in the city followed by dinner, I wanted something comfortable but still dressy that could transition from day to night and would look elegant and put together but was still comfortable to stroll around the streets of london in this ever so strange and HOT month of August we are experiencing (I am not complaining though!)

I figured the way forward was an easy loose fitting silhouette that would keep everything cool and flowy. I opted for a tailored pair of black culotte trousers from Spanish label Caramelo and to make it more day appropriate I paired these with a a loose fitting knit top in a golden camel colour. Both these pieces had relaxed silhouettes and I just loved the  effortlessly chic vibe the look gave off. I must admit I didn’t feel very comfortable at first but after seeing the pictures I felt that contrary to what I thought  loose fitting silhouettes actually can make you look thinner and taller and actually hide my lack of curves making me look a little more shapely.

To give my outfit a little definition I tucked my top in at the front so it would cinch in a little at my waste. To spice things up a little I added a beaitful gold statement necklace from Adolfo Domingues which I just thought brought the whole look together.  Given everything was very neutral I felt the statement necklace just gave the outfit an edge and so I decided to make it the central focus keeping everything else very simple.  I paired the outfit with some mid heel patent Louboutins which were surprisingly comfortable and my  my trusty Lady Dior bag in beige just to keep it in line with the rest of the colour palette.

Although I wasn’t very sure about this look at first, I really loved how it looked in the pictures and it was so comfortable to wear and perfect for a hot summer day. Plus the loose fitting top and trousers really were the perfect for choice for my food baby after dinner!

Let me know how you make your outfits interesting during the hot summer months!
