I have always been a huge fan of the brand Estee Lauder specially when it comes to their skincare. They have created cult products like the Advanced Night Repair Serum and also have lots of great products targeting pigmentation, a real problem for Asian skin like mine.
When they launched their New Dimension range a few months ago, I was very excited to try it out and given I needed a new eye cream, their Firm & Fill Eye System was the first product I purchased.
I have been on the hunt for a good eye cream for years, and although I won’t say everything I have tried is terrible, I have to admit there has been nothing that has blown m mind away for a long time. My last love and something I still use, is the Estee Lauder Idealist Brightening Eye Cream, which is fantastic because it has light reflecting properties which really help diminsh the look of under eye bags and dark circles. I have to say though, my experience with the New Dimension eye cream hasn’t been quite so fabulous.
This treatment comes into separate containers, which means that although it is quite pricey at 55.00 a pop, you do get quite a large quantity of product. The first part of the treatment, is a moisturising cream which is supposed to firm and lift the eye area, it contains collagen and it is supposed to leave your eye area looking really smooth. The texture of this product is kind of thick and quite sticky, but it felt similar to other eye creams I have tried in the past. When I first put this on, I really liked it, it leaves the eye area feeling really smooth, hydrated and plump, so far so good!
Step 2 is supposed to be applied over this first cream and this is the revolutionary product (or so they say!). It has ‘ multi-level Shaping Technology and light-diffusing optics’ which are supposed to fill in any fine lines leaving this area looking younger and brighter. This second product is very thick in texture and feels almost like a paste. I really didn’t like how this felt and the scent was also quite intense. I was a bit sceptical when I first swatched it, but after applying it I really liked how it left my under eye area looking. It looked super smooth and bright, however once I applied foundation I wasn’t quite so pleased.
The mix of this eye cream and foundation was not a good one. It left my under area looking patchy and flaky and the foundation just separated, it frankly looked terrible!
Unfortunately it seems like the second part of this eye system doesn’t really have any benefits other than filling fine lines momentarily, which made me feel I wanted to use this under makeup as opposed to as a night treatment, so for that reason this product was a total fail for me. Another problem was that the pasty texture of the product led to it drying up very quickly, which meant I ended up throwing away almost half of it.
So unfortunately I have to say this product gets a thumbs down from me, although if you do not wear makeup on a daily basis and are looking for something that will smooth and firm your eye area then this could definitely work for you.
Let me know what your thoughts were if you tried this out!
